Bryan has been making music since the age of 13. He was initially drawn to rock guitar music, but quickly broadened his playing to include classical, jazz, and folk influences. He has composed for guitar quartet and Balinese gamelan, as well as written songs for rock bands. Bryan plays acoustic, electric, baritone, resonator, and lap steel guitars. He is also a proficient bass player and an aspiring drummer.
Bryan's solo acoustic guitar playing is indebted to Pierre Bensusan, Michael Hedges, Ed Gerhard, Laurence Juber, and many others for their inspiring compositions. Outside of acoustic guitar music, Bryan is inspired by the music of Bjork, Radiohead, Frederic Chopin, Bela Bartok, Daniel Lanois, and many others. The common thread between Bryan's influences is that the passion for the music comes first, rather than the technical proficiency of the performer. This is something that Bryan strives for in his own compositions, as well.
